Charles Oppenheim has spoken and published widely on intellectual property, copyright, and licensing, as well as bibliometrics. He started his academic career working on a Ph.D. in Chemistry, where he enjoyed conducting literature searches so much that he decided to pursue a career in the blossoming field of information science. In addition to his work in researching and teaching on information science, Dr. Oppenheim also worked as an information scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. He later worked with licensing negotiations in the electronic publishing industry. He retired from his professorship in the Department of Information Science at Loughborough University in 2009 and has since worked as an independent consultant in information science and the law, especially intellectual property rights and licenses.
