Charles P. Bourne’s professional interests include library analysis, automation and evaluation, natural systems, and issues. His career includes work as a research engineer at the Stanford Research Institute from 1957 to 1966; Vice-President of Information General Corporation from 1966 to 1968; President of Bourne & Associates from 1968 to 1971; Professor and Director of the Institute of Library Research at the University of California, Berkeley School of Library Science from 1971 to 1977. In 1977, Bourne also working as Head of the product development team of DIALOG Information Services, Inc. Bourne has consulted for UNESCO and the National Academy of Science. He was President of ASIS&T in 1970 and won the ADI/ASIS Award of Merit in 1965.
